This Privacy Policy explains what information Ukulele History Hub (“we”, “us”, the “site”) collects when you visit ukulelehistoryhub.com, why we collect it, and what choices you have. The site is owned and operated by Rafiul Jaman Rana, based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. If you have any questions, email contact@ukulelehistoryhub.com.
The short version
We do not sell your personal information. We collect only what is needed to run the site, understand how it is used, and respond to you when you get in touch. The main ways information is collected are through anonymous analytics, the comment system, our contact form, and advertising cookies once ads are enabled. Details are below.
Comments
When you leave a comment on an article, we collect the name, email address and website you enter in the comment form, the comment itself, and your IP address and browser user-agent string (which help with spam detection). If you use an email address that is registered with Gravatar, an anonymised (hashed) version of it may be sent to the Gravatar service so your profile picture can appear next to your comment. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available on their site. Your comment and its details are kept so that follow-up replies display correctly.
The contact form
Our contact page uses a form (Contact Form 7) that collects your name, email address and message so that we can reply to you. We use this information only to respond to your enquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list, because we do not run one.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats (provided by Automattic) to understand how visitors use the site — for example, which articles are read and roughly where visitors come from. These services use cookies and similar technologies and may record information such as your approximate location, device and browser type, pages visited and time on the site. This data is used in aggregate to improve the content. You can read Google’s practices at the Google Privacy Policy, and you can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising
We intend to display advertising through Google AdSense. When ads are active, Google and its partners (third-party vendors) use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. For more on how Google uses data from sites that use its services, see this Google page.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. This site uses them to remember your comment details if you leave a comment, to measure traffic through the analytics services above, and to serve advertising once it is enabled. You can set your browser to refuse some or all cookies, or to alert you when sites set them. If you disable cookies, some parts of the site may not work as expected.
Embedded content from other sites
Articles on this site may include embedded content, such as videos or images from other websites. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website, and those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with that content.
How long we keep your information
If you leave a comment, the comment and its details are kept indefinitely so that we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically. Messages sent through the contact form are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. Analytics data is retained according to the providers’ own retention settings.
Your rights
You can ask to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing contact@ukulelehistoryhub.com. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes. You can also edit or delete your own comment information at any time by contacting us.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically.
Questions about this policy can be sent to contact@ukulelehistoryhub.com.
